Femi Kuti loses the Grammys for the fourth time

Nigerian Afro-beat king Femi Anikulapo Kuti, for the fourth time lost the Grammy Awards under the 'Best World Music Album' Category.

The saxophonist who failed to win in his three previous nominations respectively in 2003,2010 and 2011, missed the opportunity yet again last night at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, during the 56th annual Grammy awards.

As if he knew what the outcome would be, Femi Kuti in his last interview with ENCOMIUM weekly said, “I would be shocked if I win,” this is because those in the category with him are masters of the Grammys they include Gipsy King, Lady Smith Black Mambazo and Ravi Shakar.

Fans everywhere in Africa and the diaspora beyond were disappointed that he didn’t clutch the award, however with or without the award, Femi still remains a legend having been nominated for the Grammy awards four times.

The winners in this category Lady Smith Black Mambazo from South Africa still did the continent proud by being the only African's to win at the Grammys.
