UGANDA: Why you won't be downloading Eddy Kenzo's "Soraye" free from SoundCloud anymore?

Ugandan BET Award winner Eddy Kenzo whose latest hit single Soraye released mid December last year has taken the airwave by storm and seems like everyone wants a copy of it now.

The demand for this groovy new jam is so high that SoundCloud won’t be allowing users to download it after it’s 100th download.

“Dear Eddy Kenzo! Nice! Looks like your sound Soraye by Eddy Kenzo is getting very popular. That means your sound will be reaching the 100th downloads per sound limit. After the 100th download, the download button will be disabled” said a message from SoundCloud

But what does this mean exactly? Does it necessarily mean his new song is viral? Duh! Of course no doubt it’s going viral this is Eddy Kenzo we are talking about. He has broken the internet before with his Sitya Loss jam.

Here is the other simple explanation music sharing platform Soundcloud could be doing this and it’s all about the business model. Just like many other free internet services like Google, Facebook and many others there is always a catch and for SoundClound if you have a free account, each of your tracks can be downloaded 100 times. For Pro users, it increases to 1000 downloads per song, and Pro Unlimited users don't have such a limit. Let me let that sink in for a while.

Meaning Eddy’s free account is officially out of downloads and if he wishes to continue giving free downloads for his Soraye hit he would have to spend some bucks to spread that kind of love. Or fans could simply purchase it from SoundCloud much as Africa is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that they can actually buy music it's still an option.
