The whole week there has been a lot of buzz around how Tanzanian artist Nikki Mbishi has topped the Mdundo download list having a total of over 7000 downloads and creating a difference of over 5500 with the second top artist who was non other than the amazing Khaligraph Jones; so what exactly is his secret? speaking to Mdundo during an interview he was able to open up,
“What I believe helped me get to the top is the fact that I always share some of the killer lines from my songs on social media and I believe this creates a sense of curiosity in the fans who then search for my music as they try to figure out which song it is and they download”
He then went on to add “I am not really focusing on making money right now, my main focus is on building a loyal fan base and then I can focus on money later”
Wise strategy from this amazing artist who has proved himself to be a force to reckon with currently having over 2000 downloads in just the month of January.
