Buni TV launches Android app with Samsung

Buni TV is finally launching its long-awaited Android app in partnership with smartphone leader Samsung.

This comes only a week after they made it possible for XYZ Show fans to download sound clips from the show via mdundo for free.

Buni TV is a service of Buni Media, a multi-media company based in Nairobi and Los Angeles in the USA and it’s the production outlet behind The XYZ Show.

The app, which works on all Android 2.3 devices and up, allows viewers to watch a wide range of free content including fresh episodes of The XYZ Show Season 8 currently running on NTV.

The Buni TV app also makes it possible for users to create playlists as well as comment on and share videos on their social networks.

“Mobile has always been at the center of Buni TV’s strategy. We started with both a web and a mobile site and have since upgraded to a responsive site that optimizes design and speed on all mobile devices. We’re very grateful to have received Samsung’s support and expertise in building this app, and are looking towards a long and fruitful partnership," says Buni TV CEO Marie Lora-Mungai.

The collaboration between Samsung and Buni TV is geared at boosting local technology entrepreneurship prospects.

“Our support will involve hosting commercially viable applications covering a wide range of categories on the Samsung Apps Store which comes as a standard feature on all Samsung Smartphones,” says Mr Manoj Changarampatt, Business Leader HHP.

The Samsung App store is accessed by millions of mobile phone subscribers globally seeking to download quality Android applications in diverse categories such as Entertainment, Education, Games, Lifestyle, Travel and Productivity among others.

The Buni TV app is currently exclusively available for free download on the Samsung store and will become available on the Google Play Store in January 2014.
