Tanzanian artist Nikki Mbishi leads the pack of highest earning artists on Mdundo !

It seems that the male artists are still dominating the list of highest paid acts in the first quarter of Mdundo royalty payments 2014 with Tanzanian hip hop heavy weight Nikki Mbishi leading the pack in returns with over 7,000 downloads in total yet he has little over 2 months since he signed up with Kenya’s leading download platform Mdundo.

Mdundo has been in existence for about a year now with the number of active users growing rapidly each day, reaching a total of over 700 active artists signed up on the platform.

Mdundo shares total revenue collected fairly with artist quarterly. The royalties handed are based on the number of legal downloads an artist managed to get during the three-month period; which of course is determined by the consistency of the artist and constant provision of new content.

Tanzanian fans clearly have some mad love for their top artists which is purely insane and highly impressive; and as Mdundo plans to penetrate into the East African region, Tanzania is definitely on the priority list as they try to sign up more artists in the region, the operations manager Thiru Mungai had this to share ;

“ The Tanzanian market is looking very impressive and its quite exciting for us to see how fast we have grown there in 2013 so we are looking forward to what 2014 has to offer “

He further went on to add “I think this will push some of our artists to want to succeed therefore push out their music and increase competition amongst them, we are also looking to promote our Kenyan artists in Tanzania”

For all the Mdundo fans who have kept Local and regional music alive cheers and let’s make 2014 bigger.
