The Autobiography of Kaydrick de Collins

My name is Kaydrick de Collins, though at birth I was named Kedrick Sinkala. I was born in 1994 in the small town of Isoka, Zambia. I come from a humble family of two children—a boy and a girl. Being the last born in the family shaped me in many ways; it gave me a sense of closeness and identity, while also challenging me to carve out my own space in the world.

Early Life and Education

I spent my earliest childhood years in Chishipula Village, located in Kasama, Northern Province. Village life was simple but rich with community, values, and the rhythms of everyday life. It was in this environment that I developed discipline, humility, and the resilience that continues to guide me today.

My education began at Chishipula Basic School, where I completed my grades 1 to 7. Like many children in rural Zambia, education was both an opportunity and a challenge, but I worked hard and successfully completed my primary level. After writing my grade 7 examinations, I left home for the Copperbelt Province, a move that would open up new horizons for my future.

I enrolled at Kalulushi Basic School for my junior secondary education, and later progressed to Kalulushi Secondary School. These years were not only about academics but also about self-discovery.

The Birth of a Passion

It was during my time at Kalulushi Secondary that my life took a new direction. I discovered a burning passion for music. What began as a simple interest soon grew into a powerful force within me. I found joy in writing songs, experimenting with melodies, and expressing myself through lyrics. Music became more than just a hobby—it became my language, my way of speaking to the world, and a spiritual gift that I could not ignore.

As I developed, I was inspired by different sounds, but I found a special place in gospel music, blending it with the vibrant rhythms of rhumba. My unique style soon began to distinguish me, and I realized that I had something special to offer not only to Kasama or the Copperbelt but to the wider Zambian music industry.

Becoming a Recording Artist

Over the years, I worked to refine my craft, moving from simply writing songs to composing, recording, and performing. With each step, I gained confidence and recognition. Today, I am not only a songwriter and music composer, but also a recording artist with a growing fan base.

One of the hallmarks of my journey has been my live performances. Audiences connect with my energy, my voice, and the passion that I bring to the stage. In Kasama and beyond, I have become known for creating an atmosphere that lifts people’s spirits and draws them closer to God.

The Rhumba Gospel Ambassador

Because of my distinctive style, I have been honored with the title “The Rhumba Gospel Ambassador – Na Vocal ya Malaiti.” This name reflects both my unique voice and the light I bring through my performances. To me, it is not just a nickname—it is a responsibility, a reminder that my gift is meant to serve and inspire others.

A Rising Star

My journey is still unfolding. From a small village in Northern Province to stages where my music touches lives, I see the hand of God in every step. The challenges I have faced—growing up in a rural setting, pursuing education away from home, and pushing through the struggles of an emerging artist—have only strengthened my resolve.

I believe I am a rising star in gospel music, not because of fame or recognition, but because of the purpose behind my music. My dream is to continue growing, to share my message across Zambia and beyond, and to use my voice to inspire, heal, and bring joy to people’s hearts.

This is my story. I am Kaydrick de Collins, and music is my calling.
