The 10 best Kenyan female artists of 2013!!

If there's one thing we know for sure it's that Kenyan music scene has some of the most amazing, hot and talented female artists in the region.

In an industry dominated by the male gender, 2013 has proved to be a good year for the females to further prove that girls indeed run the world.

Below is a list of the best female artists this year.

#1 Size 8 – she was on fire at the start of this year being one of the most sought-after female artists in the country. Along the way she got saved and joined the Gospel industry with critics saying that her music career was over. She then released her first gospel track ‘Mateke’ which was received well by the fans proving that talent is what kept her at the top and she’s had a couple of hits this year.

#2 STL – she was nominated in the prestigious Channel O Awards this year and that was a good sign that she has been relevant. Songs under her name that topped charts were Biashara remix, Floss na wewe ft Collo, Mimmo and not forgetting ‘Kud*******’ that left tongues wagging.

#3 Gloria Muliro – she was chosen to be part of the Niko Na Safaricom live tour this year and that’s because she’s has had an amazing year with her songs playing all over the radio & TV stations.

#4 Miss Karun – everybody knows her including the President Uhuru Kenyatta. Formally of Camp Mulla group, Karun launched her album this year in which the head of state attended her listening party. It can’t get better than that.

#5 Avril – she’s not the kind of artist who needs to release a song every single month to remain relevant. Avril released ‘Hakuna Yule’ (missing you) around Feb. her only song this year but she’s been all over this year doing shows, events and concerts compared to some artists who’ve released a couple of songs this year.

#6 Sage – newcomer in the music scene and she means business. With Dumbala & so alive still topping charts then 2013 has been good for her.

#7 Victoria Kimani – Channel O nominee this year and her presence has not only been felt in Kenya but all over Africa. I guess the years to come will be even bigger for her than 2013.

#8 Muthoni DQ – best female rapper in the music scene and that’s why some of her fans call her ‘The Boss Lady’. She released her 2nd album few months ago titled MDQ and I think we’ve not seen the best from her yet but she has been a force to reckon with this year.

#9 Emmy Kosgei – she scooped the Best International Gospel Act Award 2013 making her the first Kenyan to ever scoop it in the event held in the U.K. she’s been a household name this year.

#10 Amileena – she’s one of the few TPF contestants who has proved that you don’t have to win the reality show to make it in the industry. From being featured in the Kamua Leo Remix at the start of this year, Amileena has had a good run in 2013.
