BREAKING NEWS : Mdundo Set To Hold A Platinum Awards Ceremony For Its Artists!

Mdundo Music is making history by being the first online music platform in Africa to hold a digital music sales certification ceremony where they will present Mdundo artists with Platinum Awards.

HOW THE PLATINUM AWARDS WORK

Mdundo will present a number of artists with custom award plaques which differ depending on the number of digital downloads the artists have gathered ever since they joined the platform.

The awards will also be spread across different artists in East Africa who have amassed downloads ranging from 50, 000 to 1,000,000 downloads.

This is the order of the different award categories:

50, 000 Downloads - Bronze

100, 000 Downloads - Silver

500, 000 Downloads - Gold

1, 000, 000 Downloads - Platinum

OBJECTIVE OF THE PLATINUM AWARDS

From foundation, Mdundo.com has been an organization driven to change the music industry for the better in not only Kenya but Africa as a whole, and as such has come up with different strategies to make this happen.

The first of these strategies being paying musicians for giving their music out for free and now this new Platinum Awards initiative that gives artists a solid reminder of the fruits of their work while fighting piracy as well.

There will be a total of 14 artists getting awarded, some of these artitst being, multi award winning Kenyan group Sauti Sol, gospel music act Bahati, Avril, Tanzania's Barakah Da Prince and Songa.

''African music is now starting to get international recognition; with this awarding ceremony, Mdundo is hoping to help further this agenda.'' Stated Mdundo Head of Music and Operations Manager, Thiru Mungai.
