EXCLUSIVE: The Weekend Sets New Billboard World Record!

An impressive record that couldn’t come at a better time

The Weeknd‘s first free album, House of Balloons, was so good, he struggled in the years following its release to put out music that captured his audience’s attention the way HOB did.

In 2015, that cold-ish streak comes to an end. Since the early months of this year, when his contribution to the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, “Earned It,” gripped airwaves nationwide, Weeknd has been on a historic streak, thanks in large part to the first two official singles from his forthcoming sophomore album, Beauty Behind The Madness. “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face” have both shot up the charts, and currently sit at #12 and #3 on the Hot 100 respectively.

Today, Billboard broke the news that Abel’s streak isn’t just dominating the current year, it hasn’t ever been done. For the first time, the same artist (The Weeknd) owns the top 3 slots on Billboard’s Hot R&B charts, with “Can’t Feel My Face,” leading the pack, and “The Hills” and “Earned It” coming in at 2 and 3 respectively.

It couldn’t be a better time.  The Weeknd just recently announced that his new album, Beauty Behind The Madness, will be out next month
