Mejja Working on New Album ‘Khadija’ to Celebrate His Mother

Multi-talented Kenyan artist Mejja is working on a new album which he will release soon to celebrate his mother Khadija and name it after her.

She raised him as a single mother and supported his artistic career even when he was ridiculed.

Today, Mejja admits that he is who he is because of the sacrifices and support his mother gave him.

In a recent interview according to KBC, Mejja said that his signature line ‘Mtoto wa Khadija’ in each of his songs is a way to always thank his mother.

“Mama yangu ndio kila kitu hata mimi hujiita mtoto wa Khadija. Yeye ndo amenilea mpaka mahali nimefika, so my upcoming album nataka kuiita jina yake na pia yeye ndio atakuwa cover,” he said. 

The ‘Siskii’ singer revealed it was quite taxing for him to keep repeating his surname in different places where he had to produce an ID to gain entry.

He added that the unending questioning was starting to wear him down. So, in an astute move, he decided to include his last name in his songs so that the questioning would stop which it did.

Mejja who is famous for his relatable Gengetone music had his successful and challenging moments in the Kenyan music industry and his upcoming ‘Khadija’ album will sum it all up.

He is one of the most-sought after music kings of collabo and his delivery never disappoints.
