From chocolates to flowers , to cards . This holiday is full of tradition and affection . How did this significant day come to be? Let's look into the holiday extensively. 

It's referred to as the holiday of Love ‘ It's not an official  holiday in most countries but  a day set aside to honor your loved ones .Most assume that the day is dedicated to only your intimate partner . This is actually not the case . Valentine's day is an umbrella dedication to your loved ones . This means , your family , friends, colleagues , pets are part of the bracket .

The day involves activities like exchanging gifts , especially chocolates , flowers , cards . Writing of poems and letters to their recitals . Traditions of gift giving dates back to the Middle Age ,when people would write love letters and poems for their sweethearts .

Did you Know that Valentine’s Day is named after a Person? 

If your answer is No . Let me give you a brief history of how the day began .The holiday is named after ‘ Saint Valentine ‘ of the Roman Priest . During his time , marriages were rendered illegal in the Roman Empire . So he took the obligation to perform the marriage ceremonies  in secret. Thus  came the name ‘ Valentine’s Day .’

During the day , most people are dressed in red or black . Have you ever been curious why those are the theme colors for Valentine's Day ?

The color red has long been associated  with the holiday, as it represents the theme of passion and love . During the olden days , the festival involved the sacrifice of animals , while the priests wore red robes . Over time ,this connection between red and love became associated with Valentine's Day. 

On the other hand , Black has always been perceived as a color of seduction , mystery , desire , Intimacy  and sophistication . All important elements of a romantic relationship  and perfect for a Valentine’s date.

Valentines’ Day is a holiday with a rich history , full of traditions and love .Appreciation of one's loved one is not only a happy feeling , but a cherished one . Getting a holiday dedicated to them is actually a great way  to show them their value in your life .  Valentines’ Day does just that.
