Ugandan songbird Naira Ali says that music remains her main calling despite relocating to the US a few years ago.

She recently told Sqoop in an interview that contrary to popular belief, she never quit music. As a matter of fact, she released a new EP ‘Love’ on Monday to reassure her fans that she is never quitting music.

Her last song was ‘Love Yekitto’ which she released three months ago after nearly a year of no new music. The ‘Your Body’ singer added that that she is doing music on her pace while still in the US.

“I have not just decided to come back, because I never left in the first place. I’ve been doing my music at my own pace,” she said.

Naira is also running a record label in Uganda, Purple Chord, based in the capital, Kampala. The ‘Muziki’ hitmaker relocated to the US a few years ago for personal reasons.

She is now a permanent US resident and she has no plans to return to Uganda just yet although she says that it is always home and will eventually return.

“Uganda is home. I will always be back no matter what, but not right now (maybe ndiida mu Uganda empya). I relocated to the USA permanently for many reasons but that is a story for another day.”

‘Love’ EP has seven songs each carrying a special blend of African genres with the outcome being soulful hits.
