After 18 years of entertaining Kenya and the rest of the world, Sauti Sol took a break and Savara has explained why it was necessary.

He says that the band members; Bien, Chimano and Polycarp knew no other life apart from what they had since 2005.

Speaking on Monday at Radio Jambo in a show hosted by Massawe Japanni, Savara said the break is important for each of them to pursue a life musically outside Sauti Sol.

“I've lived my Sauti Sol life until we reached a point where we were so used to each other that we couldn't bring any new magic,” he said.

Savara cleared the air that they only took a break and did not split as some quarters thought.

“Also, as mature men, we decided that the band needed a break. So, this isn't breaking up the band. Breaking up the band would be something I don't even want to hear, even if you mention Bien's name here,” he added.

In honouring their fans, they held the Sol Fest concert in December 2023 and hundreds of fans attended the event.

Already, Bien who is the band’s lead vocalist is touring Europe following the release of his debut album ‘Alusa Why are You Topless?’ a 17-track album with banger hits.

Savara is also working on releasing his EP soon and he hopes that fans will appreciate this new direction.

However, he hinted at bigger things coming from the band saying that they are ‘reorganising things’.
