Joseph Irungu popularly known as Jowie is infamous for his conviction following the gruesome death of businesswoman Monica Kimani but did you know he is a gospel artist?
Up and until his release from prison pending the full hearing and determination of the case, Jowie had 18 months at capital remand where he turned around his life.
He vowed to preach the gospel upon release on bail which he stayed true to. The Nakuru-born convict has released six gospel songs so far despite his death sentence on Wednesday.
Jowie has a firm background in church and music. He was part of the Agape Choir at Pangani Estate while his brother is a decorated guitarist.
Nakuabudu
He released this song one month before his sentencing. It is a deep song in which he thanks God for being with him in such a tough situation. He acknowledges the power that God has over him and it has a lot of repentance in it.
I Believe
Jowie released this song five days before his sentencing to death. He professes God’s unending love which he believes will guard him throughout his life.
Nishikilie
This was Jowie’s first release after spending 18 months remanded in prison. It is the song that introduced his gospel side to the world.
Eyaah
Eyaah is a beautiful Kikuyu-Swahili song in which Jowie pleads with God not to get tired of him.
Juu
He acknowledges the power that God has over his life and that he now knows that all his power and grace comes from above.
Babie
This one goes to his special person. He tells her that it will all pass and everything will be alright. He believes God will sort it all out.
