Celebrated Jamaican dancehall artist Shenseea has opened up on why she cancelled her Kenyan concert twice in August and October 2023.
She was set to headline Sababisha Festival whose first date was set for August 26 but it was moved to October 2023.
The organizers of the event in a statement stated that it was a mutual decision together with Shenseea’s management team to postpone the festival whose venue was Uhuru Gardens.
“After long consultations between our ground team and Shenseea management team, we have made the decision to postpone the Sababisha Festival which was scheduled to happen on 26th August 2023 at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, Kenya to a later date in October,” the statement read in part.
The organizers further acknowledged that it was a tough decision to make because fans had already purchased tickets to the event. However, they promised to announce a new date for Sababisha Festival in October which never happened.
Just recently, Shenseea opened up on why she did not perform in Kenya as expected. She said that it was out of security concerns.
“So I was booked for Kenya and due to safety concerns that were brought to my attention, I was told it was best to reschedule,” she wrote on Instagram.
She added: “I was told it was best to reschedule. I chose to refund my deposit than hold on to it without a date being set. The promoters assured me that all monies would be refunded to patrons as well. I look forward to performing in Kenya soon. Thank you to all my supporters for understanding.”
