Ugandan music veterans Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine have been urged to mend fences and resolve their longstanding beef by fellow artist Eddie Yawe, citing their deep-rooted friendship and shared history.
Yawe, speaking in a recent media interview, emphasized the bond between the two artists, revealing anecdotes of their camaraderie from their early days in the music scene.
"Bebe Cool is Bobi Wine's friend, and that's why he talks about him a lot. It's Bobi Wine who hasn't talked about Bebe Cool in a while," remarked Yawe, shedding light on the nature of friendship between the two veteran Ugandan artists.
Recalling their past interactions, Yawe reminisced about the days when Bobi Wine would prepare tea for himself and Bebe Cool after rehearsals for their band, Dimension 2000, which Yawe founded.
Their friendship extended beyond music, as both Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine played a crucial role in encouraging Yawe to establish Dream Studios in Kamwokya.
Despite their collaborative history and shared experiences, Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine have found themselves embroiled in a bitter feud over the years, exacerbated by political differences.
However, Yawe remains optimistic about the possibility of reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging their shared past and mutual respect.
Bebe Cool in 2020 acknowledged the longstanding rivalry between him and the self-styled Ugandan politician but highlighted their maturity in handling personal conflicts.
Speaking to Citizen TV, the ‘Mbozi Za Malwa’ emphasized their commitment to national development, prioritizing the greater good over personal grievances.
"As we speak, we are old men. We forego what is happening between us and focus on building our country and bettering it from all angles," he remarked.
With calls for reconciliation echoing from within the music industry and beyond, fans remain hopeful that Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine can set aside their differences and pave the way for a renewed era of collaboration and unity in Ugandan music.
