Kenyan reggae sensation Wyre has poured accolades on his Ugandan counterpart, Bebe Cool, hailing him as the epitome of a true superstar in the music industry.
Speaking to Ugandan media, Wyre, born Kevin Waire, expressed his admiration for Bebe Cool's infectious energy and charismatic persona.
The Kenyan artist says that Bebe Cool’s musical energy fascinates him so much and this is what inspires him having worked with the latter for years
"Bebe Cool is a true definition of a superstar," Wyre exclaimed. "I just love his energy. He can really inspire you, man. The vibe he gives you before hitting the stage is unparalleled. He's always cracking jokes, a very cool guy to be around."
The admiration between the two artists runs deep, with Wyre reminiscing about their early days when Bebe Cool, born Moses Ssali, ventured into Nairobi to kickstart his music career.
The duo, along with Nazizi and Redsan, formed the iconic East African Bashment Crew, churning out hits like 'Kube', 'This Tune', and 'Combination'.
Responding to inquiries about a potential reunion with Bebe Cool and Nazizi under the East African Bashment Crew banner, Wyre expressed openness to the idea, echoing sentiments previously hinted at by Bebe Cool himself.
The prospect of the trio reuniting mirrors recent collaborative efforts in the music scene, such as the reunion of Ugandan girl group Blu*3. The trio's resurgence has been met with enthusiasm, with plans for more concerts in 2024.
The significance of the East African Bashment Crew's potential revival is not lost, with all members and producers who contributed to their past successes still active in the industry.
Moreover, veterans like Chameleone and Bebe Cool credit their breakthroughs to their time in Kenya, particularly with Ogopa Deejays, who played a pivotal role in shaping their careers.
Wyre confession that he is inspired by Bebe Cool has raised anticipation about a possible reunion. Fans eagerly await the comeback of the iconic East African musical powerhouse expecting bigger hits from Kenyan and Ugandan musician.
