10 Kenyan artists that made a huge comeback in 2013!

2013 has been the year of comeback in the Kenyan music scene with artists from all genres returning after incredibly long hiatuses.

We have compiled a list of some of the hottest comebacks so far this year.

#1 Redsan – Yeah, he’s been around for years so it’s not really a comeback but a long awaited addition to his music. He come through with a club banger ‘Badder Than Most’ and gave us a remix featuring Demarco to top it up.

#2 Mercy Myra – Mercy made her entry into the music scene in 1994 when she joined ‘Kalabash Band’ music group. She later left the group for a solo career and in 2001 and released her first single ‘Sitaki’. In 2005 she left for USA and after 8 years she’s back ready to take over the industry. She launched her comeback few months ago at Carnivore.

#3 Chris Kantai – Most of his fans remember him as ‘Chris to the Kantada’ one of the sickest rappers sometime in 2006. Well, Kantai made a come this year with a few tracks. Check his profile on Mdundo.

#4 Nyashinski – ‘Tuendelee ama Tusiendelee’ hit maker. Remember Kleptomaniax? Collo, Robba & Nyashinski. The group fell apart and they all went solo. Collo has been around but after a decade Nyashinski made a comeback this year with a new track ‘Wanahepa’.

#5 Slice (Shavy & Slice) – the Dancehall duo is still riding high with their song ‘Gyal’ years after missing in action. Slice launched his solo career few weeks ago with a new song called ‘Jiipange’.

#6 Nikki (Sheila Mwanyigha) – after a long hiatus from the music scene, Radio queen and TV personality Sheila made her comeback days ago being featured in a song by Kidum. Have listened to the song and I must admit her lyrics are still on point.

#7 Wahu – also known as Mama Tumi, she’s one of the pioneers of music in Kenya. Wahu released a love song mid this year called ‘For You’ and she proved to us that she’s still one of the best female artists in Kenya.

#8 Bamboo – Born Simon Kimani, Bamboo made a comeback this year but a saved man. After seeing the light, he left the secular world and released a song called ‘Solja’ (Soldier in the army of God).

#9 Mercy Masika – Gifted in music she had major hits like Nisamehe & Amokomote which propelled her to win the ‘Female artist of the year’ Grove Awards 2008. She’s back into the Gospel industry with a bang. Check her profile on Mdundo.

Bonus

#10 Mr.Nice – he introduced Bongo Flava in Kenya and we accepted him. After a successful career he let his fame get into his head which led to his downfall. He’s now signed under Grandpa Records and he released his comeback song called ‘Tafuta’ featuring DNA.
