Kikuyu Benga artist Jose Gatutura has started the year on a high with his latest song ‘Queen Wakwa’ (Tumai Twa Mwene).
Gatutura, a celebrated Kikuyu artist popular for his Mugiithi songs captured more hearts with this new release. As usual, he picked a love theme and delivered a masterpiece.
Popularly known as “Machete”, the artist digs deep in the world of love with a powerful show of figurative speech. He sings about a woman who has stolen his heart and he opened up about it all.
Lucky for him, the feeling was mutual and the lady who swept him off his feet wants all that he wants but he has a special request.
That she does not “share her water” with anyone else because the water already has the rightful person to drink it.
Essentially, this is figurative in the sense that the water represents her heart which is already owned by another man. Therefore; she cannot share it by loving anyone else.
“Gutiri mundu utangienda giwtanio na queen, gutiri mundu ungithura gwitanio na queen na gutiri queen utari na king wake nan-ii ni nii king waku…ona wahoyo tu mai, meere ni twa mwene (No one wouldn’t want to be associated with a queen, no one hates being associated with a queen and every queen has a king and I am your king. Even if they ask for water, tell them the water is with the owner),” part of the lyrics go.
