Female rapper Wangechi recently released the video to her much anticipated ‘comeback’ music piece, ‘Cardiac Arrest’ and the world went wild!
If you are acute with Greek mythology or if you took your history books a mile more seriously than the regular forty minutes of day, then you ought to be aware of a god by the name ‘Prometheus’. See Prometheus is best known as the benefactor who brought fire to mankind, sort of relative to the theist version of the Devil: brought about the awakening.
But why bring this up? Because people, I feel that Wangechi is the modern day herald of ‘fire’ in African music. She has this emotion and concepts which she injects in her music pieces and every globe damn time she does, I feel like she peels off a piece of her soul and staples it onto the song!
This song for example, ‘Cardiac Arrest’, she brings both the elements of composition and rap and evolves them into art itself! This may not be her first music piece ever since her unfortunate occurrence, but I just feel since this was a solo, she gave it her all.
Don’t misquote me, her ‘Analogue Dreams’ collabo with female vocalist Karun was phenomenal, but this new jam just gives me the excitement chills that revolve around her ‘rebirth’. The video shows you exactly how time is changing and no matter how many disappointing artists are out her, they won’t affect the mind of one good artist: winter is coming music lovers!

If you ask me, you get to know the true ability of an artist with every solo piece they make. Earlier on she let the world know of her ‘1994’ project (which unfortunately has taken an infinitely infinite time to see the light of day), a project that had promised to be a cataclysmic event bigger than the eradication of the dinosaurs, through incorporating studio art and music; picture and sound.
A project I’m still quite hopeful about: reason why I stalk this young musical soul. Fingers crossed with this new project, with ‘Cardiac Arrest’, she will stay true to her words. I don’t think we have enough room for another Dr. Dre ‘DETOX’ album.
With that clearly laid down, feast your eyes on the embodiment of art itself from the female version of Wolfgang Mozart, Wangechi!
