Special Throwback: If these artists were still around

It’s sad that we forget to honor our fallen soldiers in music who departed us yet we still jam to the legacies they left behind. In our throwback feature today we pay tribute to some of the ‘Legends’ who passed away.

#1 E-Sir – 10 years later after his death he’s still regarded as the best rapper to ever emerge on the Kenyan Hiphop scene. We all Miss E-Sir, RIP.

#2 K-Rupt – he was murdered 8 months later after the death of E-sir the same year. His hit singles included "Changamshwa", "Tukawake", "Chacha" and “Dada Njoo”. Representing Nairobi west, that’s a great talent we lost.

#3 Lady S – she was the first female femcee in the music industry and her death on September 4 2007 took many by surprise. Signed under Calif Records she came into the limelight with the song ‘Ukimwona’ ft Pilipili.

#4 Frakas & Dry Gin – “Kati ya Man-U na Arsenali ni gani kali?” we jam to this song all the time and it’s very popular among the football fans. Death strikes anyone, even the greatest.

#5 Wiki Mosh – he gave us “Atoti” ft Gidi Gidi and we play this song all the time. Forever remembered.

#6 The Mighty King Kong – died 6 years ago on Christmas day, King Kong was disabled and that did not kill his passion for reggae music. He left us with 3 albums at the time of his death.

#7 Poxi Presha - real name ‘Prechard Pouka Olang’, was a pioneer Kenyan rapper who sung in Dholuo language. He passed away in 2005. He had hits like; ‘Jaluo Jeuri, Mummy & Otonglo Time among others.

Death is inevitable, but it’s a good thing If you leave a mark and years after you’re gone people still remember you. That’s being a legend as is the case with all in the list above.
