EXCLUSIVE (S.A): Rapper AKA Calls Ifani A Liar? Here's Why!

Just days after we reported that Ifani has made history by becoming the first South African rapper to ship 20 000 albums in just 24 hours of release, he found himself in a direct line of fire when fellow rapper AKA launched a scathing attack on the feat.

AKA called out Ifani for not being entirely honest about how he managed to sell so much in so little time when Ifani has not achieved that much commercial success on the airwaves as far as singles from the best selling album are concerned.

This 20k selling album? … Featuring hits singles like _____________________

The ‘Congratulate Me’ hit maker skipped rapping praises for the said history and instead bravely revealed that Ifani’s albums sales were bogus – an alcoholic beverage company brought pretty much all the copies in advance.

IFANI/Redds should just have accepted the props I was giving them on a job well done … Now they are telling you 20k fans bought on day 1.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 12, 2015

Instead of just accepting the props, Redds and Ifani want to discredit me because they are ashamed that they lied to you.

Ifani did score a heads up, however, for “working the system.”

Don’t get me wrong guys … I applaud IFani for getting Redds to take his album to Gold status. We could learn a lot from that move.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) May 12, 2015

The strategy used to score the Gold plaque will be different from AKA’s own, he revealed, which will be driven by actual sales from his fans. His album is now only 2 000 copies away from hitting Gold in South Africa.

Ifani hopped in his defence and slammed AKA’s claims that all the copies were bought by a certain company.
