See, the thing about music is, it straightjackets a poem and prevents it from breathing on its own, whereas it liberates a lyric. Poetry doesn't need music; lyrics do. However, one Kenyan artiste has merged lyricism and poetry and given the two a life of their own. With every one of his compositions, you can hear the song already playing independently. He needs no introduction but I had the red carpet so it’s only fair I roll it out. World, meet Octopizzo!

He will be going up against his arch nemesis Khaligraph Jones for this coveted title, which was adorned by male rapper Rabbit in the last Mdundo Music Awards; Rabbit, whose name still appears on this nomination list.
