Ghanaian Afrobeats star King Promise is unapologetic to critics who feel that his ‘Album of The Year’ at the Vodaphone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was undeserved.
For a fortnight now, some quarters still hold that Black Sherif deserved the award following his ‘The Villain I Never Was’ album released in 2022.

However, King Promise’s ‘5 Star’ album won him an award after years of waiting for a VGMA award.
Speaking during an interview with UTV Showbiz, he said it’s hard to please everyone adding the same critics had a problem with him after failing to win an award in this category in 2019.
""Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm okay with that, People equally had a problem when from 2019 I couldn't pick up any award so that's how the game is,” he stated.

While he is a big fan of Black Sherif, he feels that he worked hard for this victory.
“I love Black Sherrif and I enjoy his album, every nominee in that category is deserving of it but it's an honor I was recognized for my hard work. I'm grateful for the honor and I appreciate my fans for believing in my craft and supporting me people can feel however they want to feel it doesn't change it. It's my time to shine and I embrace it,” he added.
He also won an award for the ‘Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste’.
