Who is Samidoh?

Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, is a Kenyan singer and songwriter. He was born on 30th November 1987 in Nakuru County, Kenya where he spent a better part of his childhood. The songster is known for his unique blend of traditional Kikuyu music with contemporary styles such as Rhumba and Benga. The creativity and versatility in the production of his music have earned him a loyal fanbase that stretches beyond Africa.

Growing up in a humble background, Samidoh developed an interest in music at an early age. He explored and sharpened his talent by performing at school events and church gatherings. The youngster later joined a local band where he further honed his skills in playing the guitar and singing.

First Album

In 2009, Samidoh released his debut album, 'Ndiri Mutwe' which showcased his talent and unique style. The album featured hit songs such as 'Ndiri Mutwe', 'Wendo Maguta', and 'Ngumo', which became popular among Kikuyu music fans.

Samidoh continued to cement his presence in the music industry through successful albums and singles, including 'Mwathani', 'Tim Waiyaki', 'Kairitu Gakwa', 'Murata Wa Ngai', and 'Ndiri Mutwe Mwega'. He has collaborated with other Kenyan musicians such as Joyce Wa Mamaa, Phyllis Mbuthia, and Waweru Wa Kam.<

The Mugithi star musician has bagged a lot of achievements and recognition courtesy of his music. Among the top music awards that he has bagged are the 2020 Pulse Music Video Awards for Best Mugithi Video and Best Collaboration. He has further partnered with a lot of local and regional brands. Some of the partnerships have seen him perform at major events such as the Koroga Festival and the Safaricom Live concert.

At the end of 2022, Samidoh successfully headlined his USA music tour. The tour saw him perform in major states in the USA including Arizona, Spokane, Seattle, Los Angles, Atlanta among others. The singer has also performed in other foreign cities including Dubai.

In 2023, Samidoh dominated the top music charts thanks to his collaboration with Benga star musician Prince Indah on 'Bado Nakupenda'. The song became legendary as it united The Luo and Kikuyu communities through music, and once again explored the beauty of Kenyan local music. 'Bado Nakupenda' creatively fused Mugithi, Benga, Rhumba, and Zilizopendwa music to create what can only be defined as a legendary masterpiece.

Samidoh's  Marriage

Apart from music, Samidoh is also a family man and a dedicated police officer, serving as a Senior Administration Police officer in Nakuru County. He is married to Edday Nderitu, and together they have two children. He has, however, decorated headlines on several occasions over his controversial relationship with city politician Karen Nyamu.

Samidoh's unique blend of traditional and modern music styles has earned him a loyal following among Kenyans, and his music continues to inspire and entertain many. With his talent and dedication to his craft, he is undoubtedly one of the most successful and influential Kikuyu musicians of his generation.
