EXCLUSIVE: Kenya's Phy Wins The Maisha Superstar Competition!

“The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give” Howard Cosell once went saying. Well, these words are more than just mere phonetics out of the mouth of a man to the young Kenyan female singer, Phy.

Phy, the Kenyan contender in the previously held music competition Maisha Superstar, was crowned queen at the finals last night along with the grand prize of KSH 1.2 million!

Phylis Ngetich A.K.A Phy was a one man vocal armada on stage as she sang like never before in competition finals. For a minute you’d have mistaken the event for a faceoff between the mythical singing legends, the sirens.  Everyone had their A- game on, but it was until that time this nightingale graced the stage that I felt like the stars along with the other celestial bodies aligned!

Her impressive performance and constant improvement saw her win the hearts of fans, judges, a recording deal along with the ultimate prize of Kshs 1.2 Million. The competition pitted stars from different parts of East Africa including Jose Chameleon, Nameless, Shaa, Ay and Rabbit to mentor young upcoming singers to become stars.

As the competitions went on, it became quite clear that despite all the work, prowess and impressive renditions by the determined competitors, only one would win.

Final episode was an array of prowess as the up comers Damian, Spirit, Filah and Phy performed alongside their mentors. The Kenyan representative Phy came out on top after an amazing performance. Her versatility in different musical genres is bound to propel her to great levels of success.

Watch out music lovers, there's something in the sky, and no, it's not the black superman. It's singing sensation Phy and she is soaring high!
