THE Z PROJEKT: Denmark Meets Kenya And The Union Of The Two Revamps Kenyan Classics!

This project is a celebration of the period just before independence, and after, where the legendary golden crop of Kenyan musicians kept the nation twisting and turning wherever they were.

The Z-projekt is also a story of love where two cultures connect and share a powerful moment through music.

Claus Seest, the producer of the album, coming from Denmark, falls in love with a Kenyan singer, VQEE. She later becomes his wife and gradually introduces him to Kenyan music, which he loves. After a few visits to Kenya, back and forth, the couple choose to embark on a celebration of Kenya ́s golden music age.

So, they team up with Abbi Nyinza, a Kenyan artist and producer, pooling together 10 artists who compile an album together, doing unique and contemporary versions of some of Kenya ́s great musicians of that age..... and thanks Claus, lending his production experience towards a modern day celebration of the much beloved Zilizopendwa.

The Z-projekt looks to reconnect our musical expression and history. And so, it is more than just retracing our steps. It is about harmonizing who Kenya is, and projecting all the wonderful qualities we have as a people.

It is also a contribution towards greater national unity and connection as Kenyans. The beauty lies in the fact that all generations are merged as one. Old and young are ONE, dancing to the same tune, amplifying the values we love about Ourselves... no wonder the name - ZILIZOPENDWA - meaning... all that is loved.

The first release from The Z Projekt is the POLE MUSA video. A song originally by Daudi Kabaka, redone by Seest & VQEE featuring Kibby.The video and audio will be released 2 May 2015, which will be availble for free download on Mdundo, and pretty soon......the whole album will follow suit.
