Nigerian singer Tems won a Grammy Award in the event’s 2023 edition for her contribution to Future's No. 1 song, "Wait For U” under Best Melodic Rap Performance.
She was the only Nigerian artists who walked home with a Grammy’s edging out big names such as Burna Boy who had been nominated twice.

Burna Boy was first nominated under Best Global Song performance for his 2022 most played song ‘Last Last. The second nomination was under the Best Global Album for his sixth studio album 'Love Damini' which he released in mid-2022.

Tems was all glammed up for the awards ceremony with a long, flowing stylish gown and a Rolls Royce to shuttle her.
The Grammy Award adds to her growing list of success in the industry. It follows her latest Oscar nomination, the first Nigerian female artist to ever get such in history.
Tems was recognised for her songwriting contributions to the music of Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack namely, Rihanna's "Lift Me Up."
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler roped her into the project following her meet up with Rihanna in September 2021 as she launched Fenty in the US.
