‘One Side’ is definitely a big song for 2022 and Iyanya is reflecting on his blessings this year compared to 2021 when his career was taking a big hit.
The talented singer surprised his fans with a series of tweets about his hard times in December 2021 and how he changed his fortunes one year later.
He remembers how he begged to perform at two unpaid shows just to be seen yet this was during the festive season. Iyanya only performed in one paid show. Fast forward to 2022, and he is overwhelmed by the number of shows he wakes up to every day.
“Last year December 2021, I performed at 3 shows, one paid and I begged to perform at 2 just to be seen,” he tweeted. “2022 December, I wake up and every day to alerts for shows, haven’t had this kind of busy December since 2017. 20+ shows in on month. God Thank you,” he continued.
Disappointed, he decided to do things differently in 2022 and Davido, Ayra Starr, Don Jazzy and Kizz Daniel gave him a huge push. He also reunited with his manager Ubi Franklin who made his life so different for him throughout the year.
Iyanya listed the six things below that he intentionally did to get back on top after a depressing 2021.
- Took stock of his mistakes and forgave himself.
- Reunited with his manager
- Setup recording camps
- Created new music based on current trends and was consistent
- Used his social media platforms well.
- Stayed positive.
He is now promising bigger and better things in 2023.
