Ghanaian rapper and hip-life artist Fameye made a huge career sacrifice by choosing music over professional football.

While responding to questions about having football-like stature, Fameye noted that he played football professionally years ago. However, he ditched it because he realized he had a bigger purpose in life than playing football.

He was a fierce defender and most people called him ‘Eto’o because of his resemblance to the retired Cameroonian football legend. He even had a jersey with Eto’o’s name embellished on it because, at the time, his ambition was to be as sharp as the Cameroonian.

"I [used to] play as a defender but they nicknamed me Eto'o…I had a shirt and. with paint on a paper. I inscribed his name at my back,” he told Doreen Avio of Accra's Hitz FM

However, he was not half as good in football as he was in music and that’s when he decided to change gears. Fameye admits it wasn’t easy to discern that he had a musical gift. It took a spiritual opening for him to find his true purpose in life. The ‘Pressure’ hitmaker says that his turnaround is a good example that you can find a higher purpose in life.
