The Kenyan music scene has been graced with new top-trending songs that have shaken up various music charts. With approximately a month to the end of the year, each artist is pulling out the last trick in their sleeves to make the year count. December will be full of activity and concerts, and therefore, musicians are taking advantage of the remaining window to release their projects.
Here are the new top trending songs released in Kenya.
Herawa Ni - Prince Indah
The prince of Ohangla music Evans Ochieng Owino, better known for his stage as Prince Indah, has gifted his fans with 'Herawa Ni'. 'The singer poetically praises the beauty of finding true love. In his melodious voice marinated with the traditionally Ohangla beats, Prince Indah takes his listeners on an emotional journey to the world of love and happiness. In exactly seven minutes and eighteen seconds, Prince Indah summarises what could have been a whole book of love. The simplicity of the music video and its reflection of the traditional African up-country register is enough to get one glued to it to the end.
'Herawa Ni' is the third single from Prince Indah for this year. He started the year with 'Te Amo', and soon followed it up with 'Girwa Ni'.
Asante - King Kaka Ft. Kidum
Veteran Kenyan spoken word and Hip Hop artist King Kaka has released the second song 'Asante' from his upcoming album 2nd Life which is set to be released in December. The rapper takes his fans through one of his most painful moments in life. He reflects on the day he was hospitalized after his health deteriorated. The award-winning rapper reveals how he almost gave up on life were it not for his family and close friends.
'Asante' is a song that expresses gratitude to God for standing with him until he recovered. What has impressed many is the fact that King Kaka took the spoken word approach on the new song. Kidum takes the chorus of the song with his melodic voice cementing together King Kaka's verses.
My Beginning
Multi-award-winning singer and songwriter Bahati has sealed his comeback with 'My Beginning'. This is a love song in which the persona praises his partner for the immense love that she has shown him. Bahati, just like in his top hit songs, does not disappoint in this one; from the melody to the lyrism. What, however, caught the eyes of many and left them glued to the music video is the choreography of the dancers. The video features celebrated dancer and choreographer Angie The Dance Queen. Bahati too steps out of his comfort zone and showcases dance moves that one would never have imagined he would be capable of pulling.
'My Beginning' comes barely two weeks after Bahati released 'Mambo Ya Mhesh' remix which was treated to an extremely warm reception among the fans.
Ni Wetu - Maandy Ft Mejja
The Kenyan queen of rap Maandy is currently dominating the airwaves courtesy of her new jam 'Ni Wetu' featuring Mejja. The songster in the new hit song addresses the theme of marriage and polygamy. She sings of how women should be at peace to share their partners citing that the majority of men are unfaithful to their partners
What makes the song a hit is the top-notch songwriting skills that balance poetry and entertainment. The delivery of the punchlines by both rappers was super effortless.
Good Vibes And Inshallah - Iyanii Ft Bien
What better way to end the year than on a good vibes note with Iyanii's 'Good Vibes And Inshallah' featuring Sauti Sol's leadman Bien Aime. The banger celebrates unity and happiness among family and friends. It is the perfect jam for a reunion party or club registration. Iyanii showcases his powerful vocals in the song as Bien presents a dancehall vibe. The song was produced, mixed, and mastered by Alexis On The Beat.
