After being honoured by Ghanaian-British rapper Stormzy at the 2022 Global Citizen Festival, legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba has thanked him.

In a Facebook post shared on his official page, Daddy Lumba described seeing Stormzy perform the act in front of thousands of people at the Black Star Square in New York as "heartwarming and humbling." Stormzy, one of the top Ghanaian, UK-based rappers, performed while wearing a Daddy Lumba shirt at the Global Citizen Festival.

The shirt prominently displayed the smiling face of the 'Aben Wo Aha' singer. Humbled by this act, Daddy Lumba had kind words for the rapper. “I am immensely touched by Stormzy’s homage to me last night at the Global Citizen Festival,” he stated. “I would like to take this opportunity to share my gratitude and appreciation for the public display of love. To say that the gesture was heartwarming and humbling is an understatement. Thank you very much,” remarked the highlife legend.

Stormzy warmed many hearts with this act following his aborted "Heavy is the Head" 2020 concert in Accra. The COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the show. His performance at Global Citizen reminded Ghanaians how loyal he still is to his home country with his assurance that he represents Ghana whenever he performs anywhere in the world. Stormzy curtain-raised for fellow Ghanaian rappers Yaw Tog and Kwesi Arthur who performed ‘Sore Remix’.
