Veteran Kenyan musician David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, has petitioned the Nairobi County Government to honor the late legendary music icon E-sir. The 'Salary' hitmaker through the petition argued that E-sir contributed immensely to shaping the identity of the Kenyan music industry. The petition seeks to have a road in the South C estate in Nairobi named after E-sir.

According to Nameless, Esir's legacy continues to inspire many upcoming talents in the country. The naming of a road after him will, therefore, act as a gesture of appreciation and recognition of the importance of art in society.

"In honour of this iconic Kenyan artist who was not only a great talent and friend to many but a pioneer in his genre of music we are calling on the Nairobi County Council (NCC) and The Office of the Ombudsman to name a road, drive or street in South C in 'E-Sir's" name as a way of celebrating artistic talent and in honour of his memory,” Nameless stated.

Nameless in the petition described E-sir as a talented, hardworking, passionate, and humble artist. He added that these values need to be celebrated and recognized by society.

E-sir passed away at the age of 19 on 16th March 2003 in a road accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway. The late rapper together with other musicians including Nameless were traveling to Nairobi from a concert when they were met with an unfortunate accident.

At the time of his death, E-sir was flying high with hit songs such as; 'Saree', 'Mos Mos', 'Hamunitishi', 'Kamata', and many others.

Among those who have expressed support for the petition is Nairobi county Governor Johnson Sakaja who was also a close friend of the late youngster. The petition has been forwarded to the Transports and Roads county executive (CEC), the Nairobi County Assembly, and the office of the Governor of Nairobi county.
