The past few weeks have been a beehive of activities for Nigeria’s music industry and there are incredible music videos ruling the airwaves. There is new, great music coming out every other week and the charts are actively filtering the best of these releases. 

To paint a picture of how busy things are, Burna Boy dropped his sixth studio album ‘Love Damini’ on July 8 and went on to drop new music videos for a couple of songs off the 19-track album. Then, Omah Lay served his fans with a sizzling 14-track debut studio album ‘Boy Alone’ on July 15. It’s been fireworks! So, here, check out the trending music videos in Nigeria this week. 

For My Hand – Burna Boy ft Ed Sheeran

The song is from Burna Boy's Love, Damini. "For My Hand" music video features both artists riding an elevator as they tell their partners to accept them as they are. The spectacular images find the two artists journeying over numerous green screen places such as a floating rock amid pounding waves, the top of a building, and an elevator.

The video is currently the number 1 trending music on Nigerian YouTube with over 12 million views. 

Buga – Kizz Daniel ft Tekno

‘Buga’ is a huge song, a record that has got Nigeria and entire Africa in a frenzy. Viral TikTok challenges of the song have dominated social media for a number of weeks now. Buga was created to honour hard effort, accomplishment, and a positive attitude. The record features multitalented singer and music producer, Tekno. 

Released about 3 weeks ago, Buga has garnered over 28 million views and is the number 2 trending music video on YouTube Nigeria this week. 

Ijo (Laba Laba) – Crayon

Crayon's most recent single titled "Ijo (Laba Laba)” is an enticing melting pot of House, Amapiano, and Afropop influences. The Sarz-produced, inviting dance riddim is complemented by a dance technique known as "Laba Laba". 

Back off his success with the stellar delivery on Mavin Record's Overdose, Crayon might have just scored his first mega-hit with this one. 

Bandana – Fireboy DML ft Asake

Fireboy DML, a talented Nigerian Afrobeat lyrical genius, unravelled this scintillating tune dubbed, Bandana, with the vocal support from in-demand singer, Asake. 
Asake whose musical fame keeps soaring has an immense vocal contribution to the P.Prime-produced song.  The two YBNL superstars effortlessly injected their vocals with some originality and ingenuity. The sound of Asake is distinguished by a distinctive choir-like quality that gives the record a boost with an ethereal quality.

Peace Be Unto You – Asake

"Peace be unto you" by Asake draws emphasis on specific aspects. In the lyrics, Asake acknowledges that he is a major superstar at this point, and he expresses a desire to avoid becoming overwhelmed by the attention. He demonstrates that he has the conviction that despite being successful, all he wants to do is live in the moment and not let himself be sidetracked by what other people are saying or the perspectives they hold. 

Asake wants to take care of himself and have fun while relying on the opportunities that God has opened up for him. The record was produced by talented music producer, Magicsticks. 

Certified Loner (No Competition) – Mayorkun

This Clemzy-produced tune is nothing short of dope! It bedazzles everyone on social media with ease, Particularly on TikTok – it’s a huge song that you can’t get enough of. 
In addition, it’s Mayorkun's first release of the year. 

Like – Iyanya ft Kizz Daniel & Davido

Iyanya, one of Nigeria's most talented singers, did a marvellous composition of this excellent soundtrack. Iyanya, Davido, and Kizz Daniel's vocals are acclimated to a faster-paced tempo in the song which gives the song an immediate feel-good sense. Iyanya is in the A-list game in the industry thanks to the collaboration of three creative talents, all of them bring their vocal prowess and sonorous vocals to the table.

Iyanya kicked off the year with his first single, "Call," which featured the Mavin music queen, Ayra Starr. It is his second single of the year.

Hard to Find – Chike ft Flavour

Chike enlists the assistance of Nigerian highlife legend, Flavour to contribute an outstanding verse to "Hard To Find," a powerful sound came about from the two music virtuosos. 

Since the release of his album, ‘Boo of the Booless’ in 2020, Chike has demonstrated immense promise in becoming a household name across the African continent and the rest of the world in general.

Little (Love I Love) – Teni 

Teni performs an entrancing euphony in the name of her brand new single "Little" (Love I Love). As she flaunts her incredible abilities to the listening audience, the song passes off as a seamless fusion of Afro-pop and Amapiano music.

Little (Love I Love) was expertly arranged and recorded.  The Dr Dolor Entertainment signed artist really shone through with her enchanting voice and mysterious aura. Abayomi Ilerioluwa was the producer of this musical masterpiece.
