Ghanaian afrobeats singer Jackline Acheampong alias Gyakie has revealed that she gets emotional every time she performs on stage and cries in most cases.

The ‘Something’ singer in a tell-it-all interview with Grammy’s Recording Academy Herbal Tea & White Sofas laid it all bare. She opened up that on most occasions when she has a stage performance, she cries.

“My emotional state before I go on stage every single time no matter how much I’m used to seeing a lot of people on stage I always feel like it is my first time. Sometimes I actually tend to cry. I can say seven out of ten times whenever I want to go on stage I get very teary; I start to cry every time I tell myself I’m still doing this, I’m still in this game people still love me and when you hear the screams from the crowd and all of that it just gets me extremely emotional,” she said.

Somehow, she has learnt how to comfort herself and still pull a great show. Gyakie, a daughter to one of Ghana’s Highlife legend Nana Acheampong adds that her fans motivate her. She is grateful that they stuck with her from the beginning to this point where her name is now known all over Africa.
