Ponobiom Shares Why He Regrets Dissing Shatta Wale

Ghanaian rapper, Ponobiom formerly known as Yaa Pono harbours regrets about beefing with Dancehall legend Shatta Wale.

Speaking recently on the Hammer Time Entertainment Show hosted by Kumasi-based Pure FM Hammer Nti, he said he stooped so low to Shatta’s level when he publicly dissed him. It all started when Shatta Wale called Ponobiom an underground artist who wasn't worth his hype as a reaction to Ponobiom urging the '1DON' hitmaker to help resuscitate the music industry.

Shatta rejected Ponobiom's request in a Twitter message in which he used a series of expletive-laden phrases. Both artists began trading diss tracks in an effort to degrade each other's reputation.

For the first time since the event which happened two years ago, Ponobiom labelled Shatta Wale a guy of negligible value. The ‘High Grade’ singer, says his biggest regret in the Ghanaian music industry was "falling to Shatta Wale's level" and getting into a public argument with him. "If only I could go back in time, it would have been much easier to just ignore him", he says

With his remarks during the interview, the rapper is likely to stay off of diss tracks targeting the celebrated Ghanaian dancehall artists. In February 2021, Ponobiom said via a tweet that the feud more with Shatta Wale just to heat things up. Shatta Wale responded "harshly" despite the fact that the joke was meant to be taken lightly by the audience.

“Hw3 wo Jon, we won’t give hype to underground artistes anymore go look for patapaa dems,” Shatta responded. But this response angered Ponobiom who called out his rival for being too personal.

“Tweet am again.. Double jon.. Wat i tweet wasn’t insult.. 4ple jon,, u have the longest underground roll in Ghana history 19 yrs minus my 6 yrs go fit born tutulapato.. #gbee,, me di agro wo be gyimi..”

Ponobiom is gearing up for the release of his EP titled Mawusi due to arrive on the 1st of July 2022.
