Veteran highlife singer Kwabena Kwabena has shared an “unpopular” opinion about social media hype and how much relevance it holds to an artiste’s general reputation.

Speaking to Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show, the “Afraid to Lose You” singer opined that depending on PR stunts and going viral to sell your art as an artiste is unprofessional and unfortunate. In his words;

“I want to talk about professionalism more because I see it as one of the things most artists here lack. Professionalism in the sense that we feel sensationalism is what is going to sell our act but that’s unfortunate. Any artiste who thinks sensationalism is the key is not a true artiste.”

Kwabena Kwabena went on to say that the key to being a real artiste depends on the manner you present your art and also believing in yourself. He strongly shared the opinion that trending on social media does not make an artiste relevant but “to do something in terms of music and people will enjoy and love you for your music.”

The highlife veteran is still enjoying airplay for his April released record “Fingers” which talks about sex.
