Throwback: One hit wonders!
22 November 2013
Last week on our #throwback feature we gave you a list of some of Kenya’s one hit-wonders that conquered us with one song and disappeared, never to be heard from again.
This week we give a list of some other artists who disappeared after one hit , for some after a couple of hits, but still that wasn’t enough for them to make a comeback.
#1 Ousmane - VIP Love. Born Wanjohi Waregwa for those who didn’t know, his reggae style was very unique especially the rhythm on this song. He did other few tracks but this one was the classic hit.
#2 Meg C – Nipe. ‘Nipe usiku moja nawe hivyo ndivyo nataka’ do you remember those lyrics? We need to hear that sweet voice again.
#3 Mandugu Digital – Furaha. This was a hit collabo featuring Jaguar when he was still at the bottom. ‘madame na machali wamejaa furaha, furaha wamekam wamesema ni mtam ni mtam, ni la-li-la’ their other song was ‘Rap kwa MIC’ and after that they vanished.
#4 Deux Historians – Hey Dj & Hepi. Made up of French Boy & Swaleh this duo resurfaced again in 2009 with ’Bouje’ and once again they disappeared.
Bonus
#5 Mr. Lenny – Cash Money. I know he’s not a one hit-wonder but this song was his first single that gave him all the limelight. He has a couple of tracks but I think he just decided to quit music for good and ventured into other businesses. He was talented and we need him back.
