In the music scene, Katatumba is one of Uganda’s leading female artistes at the moment. Her immense talent, energy, dynamism and creativity has set a part from the rest of the pack.

She boasts of having four albums namely;  Peace album, Glad I'm Alive Album, Supernatural Girl Album and Wendi Album.

In the over 10 years she has been in the industry, Katatumba has worked with several top East African artists that include; Bebe Cool, Daddy Andre, Kent & Flosso, Navio, Radio & Weasel, Jegede and Mbuzi Gang among others.

Speaking to Mdundo, Katutumba noted that her greatest achievement as an artist is being the first Ugandan musician to perform the country’s national anthem live during the inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni.

“The one that stands out the most is President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni fourth term, I was the only artist chosen to sing the national anthem in front of 13 heads of states and I was accompanied by the army band, police band and prison band. It was such an honour and my parents were extremely proud and I made history since no other artist in Uganda had done it before at a presidential swearing in ceremony. Better yet even singing live and not recorded,” she said.

Her other achievements include; being appointed Climate Change Icon by the British Council in 2010 and representing  Uganda at the 4th Annual Humanitarian African Union Symposium in Nairobi, Kenya in 2016 among others.

Aside from music, Kataumba is the founder of Angella Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) that has been instrumental in the implementation of several critical initiatives in the country.

Some of her standout initiatives include; For You Gulu where she conducted several charity events in Gulu where thousands had been internally displaced due to the war occasioned by the Lords Resistance Movement.

In 2016, she donated UGX10 million to Mulago hospital to aid with purchase of Intensive Care Unit equipment. She also donated UGX 185 million to Uganda Cancer Institute to aid with the fight against the killer disease.

Katatumba has impacted the life of many through her philanthropy and at the same time inspired young female musicians to pursue their dreams. For this, Mdundo celebrates and appreciates her as a true hero.
