Muthoni DQ's wise advice to artists 'perverting' Gospel industry!
22 February 2015
I have heard and read several dozen stories of Christian recording artists, but on a personal level I’ve never told any, this is my first so I’ll tread on that Christmas spirit.
It’s about the question of their legitimacy, or some of them so to be fair.

Over the weekend I attended MDQ’s album launch at an iConcert on the rooftop of Amber House.
Should I pause to comment on the event, the first of its own kind in Kenya? - Unique and super engaging, in three strong words.
While on stage, in the middle of a brief comment about the Kenyan music scene, Muthoni Ndonga mentioned something about the art of Gospel music, which at the time wasn’t fairly clear to me I had to chase her after the show for a more comprehensible statement.
You mentioned something about Christian music entertainers while on stage, exactly what did you mean?
“The artists should stay real. Not a shot but an advice".
Why, any one in particular?
“No, I’m speaking to the entire industry, they should fix it. If some so admire the secular music world and want to jump let them do that publicly. It’s about realness not trying to hide under the Gospel umbrella. I hope you understand my point.”
This weekend the T.K.O hit maker became the first artist in Kenya, and possibly East Africa, to put together and successfully execute an iConcert during which she launched her MDQUpgraded album!

The event, graced by major industry players, was streamed live on Homeboyz Radio and their YouTube channel while on Twitter listeners went crazy the whole of Saturday night!
Some of the tweets.

“I want to get fans involved. Artists and fans should have a better conversation; This is a trend setting event and a plus for the industry”.
Readers Take Away: There’s a good number of Gospel entertainers and there’s the lot who are all about success and having fun while the world continues to plunge into the abyss of darkness. Stay alert!
