Award-winning South African rapper AKA has made it clear that he is not about to promote anyone in the music industry citing that hip-hop is not for everyone.

The rapper recently took to Twitter to explain to his followers how difficult it was for him to compete with renowned rappers. He stated why he won't promote "random" up-and-coming musicians since they all should be held to the same standards.

“Y'all think this game is for everybody. Newsflash. 90% of everybody’s music is (trash). I had to exchange many numbers before we could even get the chance to be in the same studio as Khuli or KO or Linda ... you think you gone just text me and I’m just gonna put you on my back? You dreaming,” he noted.

AKA posted the tweet after receiving a message from a beleaguered wannabe rapper and fan asking for advice, the fan expressed disappointment in trying to reach AKA but to no avail.

The fan in a screenshot shared by AKA claimed that they attended the rapper’s birthday just to get his attention but it was to no avail. However, AKA shared the screenshot captioning it: “How do I even reply this text?”

The comment sparked a firestorm on Twitter.  “He's a talented fan asking — begging — for a chance and you just had to be your usual arrogant self and further embarrass him on here. These people look up to you and you wanna ask Twitter how to reply like it's rocket science ... Like you haven't been in that position before," a tweep said.
