After the coronavirus pandemic hit the globe in 2020, getting to 2022 seemed a mirage – but here we all are and have great artists to watch out for. They made a show in 2021 and inspired others who have 2022 to make great music. Below are 5 Zambian artists to watch out for this year:

Yo Maps

For Yo Maps, it is a classic story of a man who is reaping the fruits of hard work and patience. Last year, he released his first album ‘Komando’ after 10 years in the industry.

He explained that this was the time for it after making inroads in the industry. And after a lot of success in 2021,  the ‘Blessings’ hit maker left Kalandanya Music Promotions (KMP).

Yo Maps’ was KMP’s creative director and he did a solid job. He, however, pulled a surprise when he moved to Nexus Music Entertainment in mid-December 2021. Described as ‘the winning team’ fans have high hopes of what to expect from him at his new label and a new team.

Cleo Ice Queen

The 2021 AFRIMMA award winner is another artist to watch out for. She won an award in the Best Female Southern Africa category battling the like of Nomcebo Zikode, Makhadzi, Kamp Mphela, Zanda Zakuza and Zimbabwe’s Tamy Moyo.

In 2022, she is burning her midnight oil working on her new EP ‘Leader of The New School’. You can expect it to be a banger by all means.

Tiye P

He is an undoubted force to reckon with in Zed hip hop. He keeps getting better by the day. In 2021, he released a verse in KB Killa Beats’ ‘My Diary 11’. This marked his comeback to the game. Expect bigger and greater things from him this year.

Chanda na Kay

The chanting duo have in the past released great music but not half as good as ‘Bulongo’ a new jam they released just before New Year. So great is it that there is a viral dance challenge for it all. In addition, expect a new album from the duo sometime in the year.

KD Giza

After making a tantalizing hit in DJ Mzengaman end year cypher, KD Giza has two things to do now. First, he has to prove his worth at his new label M Beats Entertainments Limited, and give better music than he even did in the cypher.
