10 Zambian Hip-hop Artists Who Made it Big in 2021

Just like any other part of the world, hip hop plays a big part in the music industry. It is in this vein that Zambian hip-hop artists have made tremendous progress in keeping the genre alive.

From January to December, a lot happened in Zed hip hop. Every artist in this genre did so well but, there are 10 artists who stood out in all this:

Pompi

With August’s ‘Kwacha’ release, Pompi, a hip hop gospel artist left an indelible mark of goodness. ‘Kwacha’ is fascinating with a different sound other than the intriguing gospel hip-hop that he is known for.

Macky 2

Macky 2 reunited with DangerZone crew and released a blazing song dubbed ‘DangerZone Reunion’.  The song was a dedication to Ba Yoka and the whole Danger Zone Crew.

Bombshell Grenade

First, she dropped a mesmerizing single ‘Assassin’. Then, she released ‘Mfumu Kadzi’ album which stamped her as force in Zed hip hop.

Princess Natasha

If her ‘Genesis’ EP is anything to go by, she is a musical genius. The EP solidified her place in the industry and made her an artist to watch out for.

Slap Dee

The King of Zed hip-hop had a daunting 2021 but all in all, his last release for the year ‘Midnight in Matero’ is benchmark for new age hip hop.

Tiye-P

Tiye-P is a genius with bars and remains true to his talent. His verse on KB Killa Beat’s ‘My Diary 11’ tells it all.

KB-Killa Beat
2021 has been a good year for KB. Besides running Nexus Music Entertainment, he has done well for himself with new singles and an end-year album ‘Love & Heart Break’.

King Illest

The Tonga trap rapper wason another league in 2021. His music videos took a shift and became so exclusive.

Ruff Kid

Ruff Kid stepped up his game this year with his new hit ‘Banja’ featuring South African rapper Emtee.

 

Rich Bizzy

If you ever wondered what a Zambian Amapiano version sounds like, ‘Pambale’ by Rich Bizzy featuring South Africa’s yano king Mapara A Jazz should answer all your questions. ‘Pambale’ also features other members of the John Vuli Gate Crew besides the Acclaimed Mapara A Jazz. Other South African artists featured include Ntosh Gazi, and Pearlysane.
