Ndovu Ni Kuu - Krispah X Khaligraph Jones X Boutross

'Ndovu Ni Kuu' hit was at one point pulled down from YouTube over a copyright claim. The song further attracted criticism from student leaders at Kenyatta University as some of them claimed that the song defamed the institution. After back and forth between Ndovu Kuu's management and the institution involved, the song was finally restored on YouTube.

Bahati - Fikra Za Bahati

'Fikra Za Bahati' was the song that introduced Bahat's album 'Love Like This'. According to Bahati, the song expressed his realistic thoughts on various subjects in the Kenyan music industry. In the song, Bahati dissed some of the top artists in the country. His actions in the video of the song including smoking were contradictory with his gospel genre of music. The song sparked criticism among his fans, though some of the stakeholders in the industry claim that the song was intentionally created to attract controversy to market Bahati's album.

Willy Paul - Diana

'Diana' is one of the songs in Willy Paul's new 'African Experience' album. In the song, Willy Paul used the name Diana, which more than coincidentally is the name of Bahati's wife. Shortly after the release of the song, Diana Marua came out to respond to the song with sharp accusations against Willy Paul. The song elicited a series of scandals that unearthed the dark past of those involved in it.

Bahati Wachana Na Sisi - Dk Kwenye Beat

Shortly after Bahati released his controversial song dubbed 'Fikra Za Bahati', DK Kwenye Beat responded to it with a song titled 'Bahati Wachana Na Sisi'. DK Kwenye Beat through the song criticized Bahati and advised him against taking the controversial path. DK specifically addressed Bahati in the song without mincing his words.

Miss P - Baby Shower

Although the content of the song was not controversial, the circumstances surrounding the song are what made it controversial. Before the release of the song, Miss P together with popular comedian Eric Omondi staged a publicity stunt in which the former claimed that she was pregnant. Photos showing the two together with Miss P looking pregnant emerged on the internet. The two were criticized by the public for joking about motherhood. That was, however, not the end. The song also sparked a beef between Miss P's previous boss Willy Paul and Eric Omondi. The beef turned ugly with the two insulting each other on social media.

Bahati & Otile Brown - Je Unanifikiria

'Je Unanifikiria' was among the most anticipated collaborations of December. The song was finally released on the 16th day of the month. There was, however, a cloud of controversy lingering over it as Bahati was accused of stealing the melody of the song from Marioo's song 'For You' which was released 8 months ago.
