Zambian musician Wezi Heartsound has released a new video dubbed ‘Moyo’ off her ‘Ukani Manje’ album.

‘Moyo’ is a Swahili phrase that translates to ‘Heart’ in English. ‘Moyo’ celebrates traditions and diversity of the Zambian culture. It also ties to HIV/AIDS Awareness in Zambia which is what the entire album was about.

As much as she entertains, she is also informing people that there are harmful cultural practices that catalyze the spread of HIV and those need to be addressed, adjusted or completely done away with.

It’s a wakeup call to all Zambians that HIV/AIDS is real and we must always be on high alert to win the fight!

In yet another takeaway, she surprises Zambians with her natural looks that have always been a subject of debate. Her visuals demystify stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

Meanwhile, Wezi recently featured a crossbreed of Zambian artists and released a patriotic song ‘Champions’ to mark the 57th Zambian Independence Day.

‘Champions’ features Esther Chungu, Pompi, B Flow, Cleo Ice Queen and Chef 187. Gospel star Mag 44 produced the song.

‘Champions’ is authentically Zambian. Listening to it for a first brings the Zambian culture to the fore through a series of traditional instruments playing in the backgrounds.

The lyrics are laced with patriotic words; words of hope and inspiration while praising the Zambian spirit. Wezi says that its theme is courage because they supported HNPD over PF party led by former President Edgar Lungu.

“We stood for what was right! We stood for what we believed in! We overcame/triumphed,” she says.
