The late South African musician Mpura was one of a kind, and a top collaborator. Even in death, he continues to live on in the hearts of his fans and Mzansi will never forget how talented he was.
Here are top five songs which he collaborated on and which rank highly in South African charts:
Umsebenzi Wethu
This Amapiano song featuring Busta 929’s Lady Du, Reece Madlisa and Mr JazziQ remains on top of the charts 11 months after its release. Mpura was upbeat about this hit a while before he met his death through a grisly road accident alongside Killer Kau.
Impilo YaseSandton
Kweyama Brothers together with Abidoza & Thabiso Lavish came up with this amazing hit in honour of the late Mpura. ‘Impilo YaseSandton’ is off the Mpumalanga EP by Kweyama Brothers & Mpura. Mpura was recorded over a single weekend, locked in at home-set up studio. The energy over that weekend was exactly what you see in the compilation of this tribute video.
Izolo
DJ Maphorisa honoured Mpura posthumously through this record-breaking hit ‘Izolo’. The local record producer released Izolo’s video featuring Tyler ICU featuring Madumane, Daliwonga and Visca.
uLazi
9umba & MrJazziq did their magic behind this amazing Amapiano tune featuring Mpura and Zuma. ‘uLazi’ is a masterpiece that reminds people how great Killer Kau and Mpura were especially their dance moves.
Ngwana Mani
Felo Le Tee came up with this beautiful idea of a sizzling Amapiano beat and it ended up in Mpura exhibiting his talent alongside DJ Maphorisa, Kabza de Small and Visca.
