Zambian musician Bobby East who also doubles up as CEO of XYZ record label is known for his outspoken nature and wisdom having been in the industry for over a decade.

According to Bobby East, only those blessed with resilience and determination survive when the going gets tough.

The conversation on surviving in the music industry started when a tweep said that the music scene is very tough, adding that every single day a musician needs to prove themselves to the audience.

Seconding the sentiments, Bobby said that the musical landscape is cruel and dynamic. In fact, the dynamism of the industry could wipe out your relevance within no time.

“In this game you are only as good as your last hit,” Bobby says. He goes ahead to paint a grim picture of how tough the industry is.

“It’s a cruel business filled [with] smooth talkers, sleepless nights and heartbreak .....It is not for the faint of heart,” he adds.
