EVENT: Webi surprises fans at the Airtel Trace Music Star Finalist Party!

30 year old vocalist/guitarist and Kenya Airtel Trace Music star winner Benjamin Webi was joined by the rest of the series finalists at the ATMS party organised by Airtel Kenya, where he staged a great show performing his single Pamoja Milele, and covers to Let Her Go and All of Me by Passenger and John Legend respectively.

Speaking to Webi on the event, "I had a funfilled night and opportunity to mingle with key industry players, supporters and especially the Airtel Kenya team. The reception was amazing, I got lots of congartulatory messages and love from fans." 

At the Lounge also, finalists, judges, local celebrities and players in the competition were given the opportunity to interact enjoy performances and celebrate the great talents the Kenyan contestants have shown.

Among key players in attendance were afro-soul diva and ATMS judge Atemi Oyungu, celebrated DJ Joe Mfalme, radio hosts Miss Mandi, Wanjira Mbuthia and Mdundo music team Martin Nielsen, Sandra Bartonjo and Chege Brian. 

Earlier on, Webi had explained to Mdundo concerning his road to stardom, and on whether he had an upper hand against other finalists having being in music scene from a tender age, he pointed out that; 

“Music has been part of me since 10, but that wasn’t an advantage against the other finalists. It was all about various vocals perspectives, and I believe they are talented too, despite the fact that I had to claim my spot.”  

He was crowned the winner of the Airtel TRACE Music Star competition in Kenya a few days ago, will now take part in the Pan African Airtel Trace Music Star competition involving 13 other countries at the end of February 2015, including our closest neighbors Uganda and Tanzania. 

Webi took home the first prize of over Kshs 2.7 million in cash and an iPhone 6 Plus. Other two close runners up were Phyllis Mwihaki and Trina Mungai. 

His message to fans was, “Thank you for the vote of confidence, I will make sure your votes were not in vain at the Pan African scene.

Airtel Trace Music Star is a mobile music challenge where singers and rappers stand a chance of winning a grand prize comprising of a recording deal with Kon Live, a distributed label through Universal Music Group, and an intense mentorship programme with Akon in the United States of America.
