OPINION: Take the church to the world not bringing the world to the church

This is one controversial topic we’ll shy away from discussing just because we’re afraid of being judged and just because its Gospel music, then we should just sit down and watch; I’ll take it head on.
Romans 12:2 - Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
A few days back rapper Khaligraph Jones posted this on his Facebook wall: “You Gospel artists Who wear YMCMB, TRUKFIT and OVOXO Branded attires on Music Videos, that’s Very ignorant of you, ya'll are so blinded with Fashion that you Forget who you are Serving”.
Well, I know we can argue that it’s 2013 and things have changed but that does not mean that the gospel has changed. Funny enough is that we listen to gospel music and find ourselves saying that the song is not good or maybe the video is crap, main reason being that nowadays it’s more of ‘entertaining gospel’ than preaching the good news.
Jesus did not say that the whole world should come to the church but we should go into the world. Then what should we do to bring those people who are into the pleasures of the world you ask? Jesus didn’t try to change and because he cared he had to go to where they were and preached the good news saving souls.
Gospel musicians being the ambassadors of Christ should therefore follow his example and the first thing should be a God-given burden to save souls through music. Of course we can’t ignore the fact that money also comes in but do it for God first then his favors will rein on you and he’ll supply your needs according to his reaches in glory.
But who am I to judge, what do I even know?
