XYZ CEO and revered Zambian artist Bobby East has taken a break from social media following backlash over an “insensitive” comment he made in defense of Slapdee’s AFRIMMA nomination.

After Slapdee plastered his social media pages with a poster of his AFRIMMA nomination, fans went on the rail with him. They castigated him for supporting PF party and doing campaign songs for the party. This, they said, was enough reason for them not to support him.

Irked, Bobby East who is a close friend of Slapdee wrote what he describes as an insensitive comment that he has since pulled down. However, by the time he pulled it down it had widely circulated and fans got on his neck for that.

As a result, he explains that it was insensitive to do this but adds that it was all out of anger.

“Sometimes when people are hurt they say things out of anger that they do not mean and I have been guilty of this many times,” he said.

“I apologize to everyone for that comment as it was in bad taste,” added Bobby.

He thanked his fans for always standing by him and helping him make his dream of making music come true. The ‘Toxic’ hit maker says that “the lesson is well learnt” and that is why he is taking a break from social media “to regroup and rethink his steps”.

In the same vein, Slapdee asked AFRIMA officials to remove his name from the nomination list in a bid to soothe the anger wave among fans. He also apologized for his decision to work with PF party.

“I get it, I took my influence for granted and made a selfish decision. I let down the very people I should have fought for and stood by. For that I am honestly sorry. I write this not to win sympathy over the ongoing nomination but purely for a smooth and peaceful life with those I may have hurt. Indeed mistakes were made and lessons have been learnt.

“As a sign of remorse, I have asked management to withdraw my AFRIMA nomination with immediate effect because what’s winning a trophy when you can’t win the hearts of your own people?” he opined.
